AI Investigations
One-click root cause analysis powered by AI.
When something breaks in production, you don't want to spend an hour reading logs. DeepTracer's AI investigations do the detective work for you — click one button and get a full root cause report in seconds.
How it works
When you trigger an investigation, DeepTracer's AI reads:
- The error — Full stack trace, error message, and metadata
- Surrounding logs — What happened right before and after the crash
- Trace context — The full request flow, including all spans and timing
- Past resolutions — How similar errors were fixed before in your project
Then it generates a structured report explaining what went wrong and how to fix it.
What you get
Every investigation includes:
| Section | What it tells you |
|---|---|
| Summary | One-paragraph explanation of what happened |
| Root cause | The specific line of code or condition that caused the error |
| Evidence | Relevant log entries, trace spans, and data that support the diagnosis |
| Blast radius | How many users and requests were affected |
| Suggested fix | Concrete code changes or configuration steps to resolve the issue |
Streaming progress
Investigations happen in real-time. You see each section appear as the AI works through the problem — no waiting for a loading spinner to finish. The whole thing usually takes 10-30 seconds.
How to trigger an investigation
Manual
Open any error group in the dashboard and click "Investigate". The AI starts analyzing immediately.
Automatic
Set up threshold rules to trigger investigations automatically when:
- An error group exceeds a certain occurrence count
- A new critical error appears
- Error rate spikes above a threshold
Automatic investigations run in the background and send results to your configured alert channels.
Resolution history
Every investigation is saved. You can:
- Review past investigations — See how errors were diagnosed and fixed
- Compare resolutions — If the same error comes back, compare the old and new investigation
- Share with your team — Link directly to an investigation from Slack or your issue tracker
When you resolve an error, the AI uses your resolution notes to improve future investigations for similar issues.
